Organic farming. A lot of manual work.

Organic viticulture is a way for us to produce excellent wine and at the same time to constantly improve our vineyard through ecologically responsible management. The production of organic wines goes hand in hand with our actions to protect the environment and the search for wines with a unique identity.

Supporting and encouraging the vine in its natural growth processes is our creed. As a result, we achieve the best results without the use of artificial aids.

Soil, grapevines

Our potential: the soil in the vineyard.

Our vines get their nutrients from the humus of a healthy and living Opok soil. Opok is a mostly fine-grained (loamy), calcareous sedimentary rock (Mergel), well consolidated to a slate-like appearance. Its origin is muddy marine sediments of the primordial sea 10-15 million years ago. Wines from vines on Opok soils often have a mineral character. In the youthful phase usually still somewhat restrained, they unfold their potential when more mature. This is how superb wines are created — with a special identity.

The health of the soil and the vines is of paramount importance for the overall quality of the wine. The working method of organic, regenerative and sustainable agriculture increases the fertility of the soil, giving it an extra vitality and allowing the plants to grow healthily. The result of this balanced, natural growth is richer, more flavourful grapes that optimally express the typical characteristics of the vintage, region, vineyard, soil and variety.

Ecologically responsible management.

The protection of the vines is carried out through preventive activities and stimulation of the natural defenses of the plants. Only small amounts of copper and sulfur are used, supplemented by individual minerals and plant extracts. Biological and regenerative agriculture facilitates the reactivation of natural cycles on the agricultural land.

PIWIs have been cultivated since 2011. These are new and fungus-resistant grape varieties. They enable the most environmentally friendly and sustainable viticulture.

Beautiful landscape, hillside viticulture, a lot of manual work, hand harvesting

We live and work in the hills of the South Styrian borderland in Austria. Many people visit this charming region to enjoy nature and relax from everyday life. Our vines, which thrive on the steep slopes, characterize this unique cultural landscape. The care of the vineyards requires much manual work. However, the close contact between man and vine, this togetherness, guarantees optimal care of the plants. The result is excellent grape quality.
