Winburg wines are characterized by the special selection of grape material. They come from single vineyards. Harvested when they are fully ripe, the grapes produce unique wines characterized by the terroir. Winburg wines usually mature for one to several years in wooden barrels. The name Winburg originated from parts of the first names
of Karl Renner’s parents: Erwin and Burgi Renner.
25-37 year old vines grow on Opok soils. “Opok” is a solidified sedimentary rock, formed by marine and river deposits. The soil has a high clay content, can absorb warmth well
and provides optimal ripening conditions for the grapes.
